PARKERSBURG — The community is invited to attend a joint ribbon cutting and open house on Tuesday, April 12 at the new Wood County and Downtown Economic Development offices PKB, the main street organization of Parkersburg.
The event will take place from 3-5pm at 610 Market Street, Parkersburg (above Chams Lebanese Cuisine). A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 3:15 p.m.
People can come and see what the organizations have been up to, tour the new space and connect with staff.
Light refreshments will be served at the cocktail bar.
Downtown PKB promotes downtown Parkersburg, fosters economic opportunity and creates community vitality. The goal is to create a vibrant commercial district that will provide downtown businesses, workers and surrounding residents with the goods and services they need, as well as create opportunities for education, entertainment and tourism. .
“It is beneficial for both organizations to share office space, as it allows us all to share ideas and feedback with each other, and it makes it convenient as we collaborate on many development initiatives together” , said Amanda Stevens, executive director of Downtown PKB.
Lindsey Piersol also sits on the board of directors of Downtown PKB and is currently chair of the board and chair of the downtown development committee.
The Wood County Office of Economic Development is an organization dedicated to recruiting new businesses to the Wood County area as well as working with existing businesses to grow here and stay here. Whether people are looking for a new property, need to know about available loan or grant programs, or just need help with things like social media or a business plan, the office is a source of information.
“Our new office space is dynamic, larger, and allows potential developers to see what can be done with an older or historic building. Downtown PKB and Wood County Economic Development have had and continue to have a strong relationship. The sharing office space has allowed us to minimize costs and maximize our efforts”said Piersol, executive director of WCED.
